If you have had an encounter with slimming tea, weight loss, flat tummy, or detox tea, then this blog is for you.

Even if you have not had any experience with it, someone you know has had it,

and you need to read this to inform such a person about the truths of slimming tea.

Or you are still contemplating whether to buy it or not, this is for you.

The information you are about to get on this blog is based on facts.

I spent over a week on research, gathering relevant information that would make this blog interesting and informative.

There has been a constant debate on Facebook groups, Instagram, Twitter, etc where people have a different opinion about slimming tea, whether they’ve had direct usage or not.

However, am using this medium as a reference point to give you a clear understanding of how slimming teas work.

There are different categories of people when it comes to slimming tea, weight loss tea, flat tummy tea, and detox tea. And they are as follows.

  1. People who believe they work but have never used it before.
  2. People who have used it, seen the result, and willing to recommend it to other people.
  3. People who initially believed it works, bought it, used it wrongly, didn’t see any result, and discontinued using it. In most cases, wrongly here, are people who are impatient with the result. This does not deny the fact that some slimming teas do not work.
  4. People who do not believe it works and have never bothered themselves to use it.
  5. People who believed, bought, used, didn’t get results, yet can neither say good nor bad about it.

It is important to note the sources of most slimming teas, weight loss tea, flat tummy teas, and detox teas.

When sources of slimming teas are taken in their natural state without adulteration, they have lasting solutions and little to no side effects.

Those that have side effects and are not advisable to be taken for a medium and long period of time are obviously made known. Also, there is difficulty in accessing these plants.

A breakdown of different kinds of supplements used to produce slimming tea.

There are main components for the production of slimming tea.

Like I mentioned earlier, advertisers of slimming teas add little supplements to augment it. Good or bad is solely dependent on each company.

1. Green Tea

green tea:slimming tea

This is the most popular slimming tea for weight loss.

It is gotten from Camellia Sinensis leaves that have not undergone some withering and oxidation process, unlike Oolong and black tea.

Having not undergone oxidation is one of the reasons it is the most effective supplement for weight loss and slimness.

The results of this tea have made way for itself and because of the good name it has made for itself, many companies don’t fail to mention it as an added ingredient.

It is scientifically proven that green tea can help you cut down some weight if consumed properly and regularly. Women who drink green tea regularly appear to have a lower risk of ovarian cancer.

2. Oolong tea

This tea is a traditional Chinese tea made from partially oxidised leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant.

Scientifically, it contains enzymes that boost metabolism and reduce stress, which makes you feel good when taken daily.

It also contains an antioxidant that helps maintain normal blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

3. Hoodia tea

Since 1930, the people of South Africa and Namibia nomadic hunters have been eating small pieces of the stem to suppress hunger during long hunts.

It started gaining attention in the early 2000s. According to its practical effect, it can suppress appetite and boost weight loss. There is no scientific evidence to support the claims about hoodia tea.

Consuming hoodia tea may cause nausea, dizziness, skin reaction, high blood pressure, and vomiting as its side effect. It is not advised to take it for a long period of time.

More researches are needed to determine its dosage if any. Given the lack of scientific evidence, pregnant and breastfeeding women are not recommended to take it.

4. Detox tea

This tea is for people who want to clear their bodies of toxins.

Toxins are harmful substances in our bodies produced by living organism. Most detox teas contain caffeine and high level of caffeine act as a diuretic.

Diuretics trigger the body to release urine. Constant releasing of urine from the body will make you feel you are losing weight but in reality, you are losing water(dehydration).

Some detox teas can also contain laxatives. Laxative gives your abdomen a slimmer and flatter look. There hasn’t been any clinical evidence that detox tea is a good tea for weight loss and flat tummy.

5. Herbal Laxative Tea

As the name implies, it is consumed when you are constipated.

This tea is sold in the market as a slimming tea. However, it is better off taken when one is constipated. You are not expected to take this tea for more than 2 weeks.

Longer use can cause the bowels to stop functioning normally and might cause dependence on laxatives.

Long-term use can also change the amount or balance of some chemicals in the blood that can cause heart function disorders, muscle weakness, liver damage, and other harmful effects.

Senna as a plant contains laxative which is used to treat constipation and clear the bowels of patients. It works by irritating the intestine to empty its contents and is known as a “stimulant” laxative.

Basically, ingesting senna is going to make you have to go to the restroom … a lot. And afterwards you’re going to feel lighter because you have successfully emptied out the entire contents of your intestines.

6. Dandelion tea

This tea is very common in North America, and they can easily recognise it by merely looking at it.

It sprouts up like a weed, though can be planted, it’s weed-like nature has made whoever possesses it, has to wash it thoroughly before using. It may have been sprayed with some herbicide or insecticide while as a plant. The flower, leaves, and root of dandelion can all be used to make dandelion tea.

In parts of Europe and Asia, it is known to,

  • act as a diuretic. A person taking diuretic drugs should avoid dandelion tea.
  • increase urine output.
  • detoxing the body.
  • anti-inflammatory effects.
  • improve liver health.

Most of the claims here are supported by traditional medicine. Proves from modern medicine are yet to be made unknown.

“Traditional medicine is set of beliefs, theories, experiences different cultures use manual to diagnose, prevent, cure, maintain and treat physical and mental illnesses.

Modern medicine is the present way of treating physical and mental illness by doctors and nurses”.

If you take a critical look at some of the teas mentioned here, you would understand that the results from the list of teas were based on what is popularly used to make either slimming tea, weight loss tea, flat tummy tea, and detox tea.

Again, you will find out that they are not bad for human consumption in their natural state. Those not to be taken for a long period of time, are been indicated.

The problem lies in the supplements these companies producing and selling slimming tea add to them. The moment they pass through these companies, they become more effective and more harmful to the human body.

Do not get me wrong there are a whole lot of companies out there who are doing a great job to sell slimming teas that are less or not harmful to the body.

I have found out that people get disappointed a lot as a result of high expectations from slimming tea.

Come to think of it. You spent more than 5 years accumulating calories in your body and you suddenly want to burn fats with slimming tea, lose weight with weight loss tea, get a flat tummy with flat tummy tea, and detox your body with detox tea in 30 days or less.

Who thinks like this? With such an expectation don’t you think you will be disappointed?

Definitely, you will be disappointed.

If the seller promises you amazing results in less than 30 days, well it could be possible, but how sustainable is it? If you don’t continue taking it in the following months, will you remain slim or detoxed?

These buyers get so angry and sometimes frustrated if they don’t start seeing results in less than 30 days.

Let’s be honest here, do you actually think that finishing one set of slimming tea is going to do the magic for you? Slimming tea companies focus on the speed of the weight loss, with immediate weight loss being observed in some parts of your body.

A little digression.

One day, a friend of mine, asked me “which slimming tea is the most effective slimming tea in Nigeria?”

I had a little thought before answering. The answer to this question is not a straightforward answer.

I will share my answer here to serve as a medium to reach others who may have similar question.

I won’t call the name of any slimming tea but below is an option to choose from. You can as well go with both of them, if you can do both.

  1. The most effective slimming tea is the one you are aware of its ingredients. The one you did your due diligence to know what ingredients it was made from. Most times your guts psychologically help you. Research and being convinced over a product will heighten your confidence on a particular slimming tea product, even if it is not as effective as you expected.
  2. Consult a doctor to examine the ingredients of such slimming tea before making purchase. I don’t think any slimming tea company would agree to hand you over there product without payment. In such scenario, you can purchase a little quantity for such purpose.

End of digression.

Obviously, there are more than 6 tea used to produce slimming tea, weight loss tea, flat tummy tea and detox tea.

Please share the ones you’ve used and your experience in the comments section below! Also, I welcome feedback on the tips provided in this post.

Do you agree with them or am I misguided? Can you provide me with additional insights? I am eager to hear more about people who have used these slimming tea and their experiences so it educates others as well.
